OUR RESPONSE

On behalf of everyone at ONE TO ONE, we want to let you know we value your safety and are committed to working with you to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 illness.

This page will continually be updated with the latest information in regards to the program, volunteers, staff and events.

ONE TO ONE Literacy Program

We are transforming the traditional in-person program to be delivered online for this school year. We will be giving schools time to get comfortable with their new circumstances, intending to start supporting readers around the province in November.

We can’t wait to start reading with our students and slowly bringing on more schools as they are ready.

Volunteers

The ONE TO ONE literacy program will be delivered online. Starting in October our returning volunteers will be trained on video conferencing tools and our online reading platform, Epic! Books. We know a lot of tutors are excited to read virtually, and we look forward to training everyone.  We intend to start supporting readers across British Columbia in November.

For any other questions or concerns, please connect with us at contactus@one-to-one.ca.

Are you interested in volunteering?

If you are interested in joining our virtual tutoring program, please fill in our application form. We will be in touch later in the fall to update you about our virtual program rollout and next steps.

Current ONE TO ONE tutors will be given first priority for tutoring placements, and as needed new applicants will be contacted.

Parents & Caregivers

From April 6th till June 26th, we ran a Facebook Reading Campaign supporting young readers through our ONE TO ONE Facebook page every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

You can now follow us on Facebook – to view and share these ONE TO ONE reading strategies, literacy games, and tips for your young readers.

Working Remotely

For the safety of our staff and community, we are primarily working remotely with limited office hours to practice physical distancing. The ONE TO ONE team is still available to answer your questions and be a resource to you as we work remotely.

Events

15th Annual Spelling Bee

We’re happy to share that our first-ever virtual fundraiser was a success. Thanks to  the incredible generosity and the support of our spellers, community, and three caring sponsors, we raised $18,485.
