How to Set Up the BC Services Card App and Verify Your Identity

Step 1: Download the BC Services Card App

  • Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  • Search for “BC Services Card”.
  • Download and install the official BC Services Card Mobile App on your phone.

Step 2: Launch the App and Start Setup

  • Open the app on your phone.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add your physical BC Services Card to the app.
  • This process will create a “mobile card”, which is a secure digital version stored on your phone.

Step 3: Complete Identity Verification (One-Time Security Check)

To activate your mobile card, you must verify your identity. You have two options:

Option A: Verification by Video Upload

  1. Use the app to record a short video of yourself as instructed.
  2. Submit the video through the app.
  3. You’ll receive an email confirmation once your identity is verified.

Option B: Verification by Live Video Call

  1. Choose the video call option in the app.
  2. Before the call:
    • Take a clear photo of yourself using the app.
    • Make sure you’re in a quiet, well-lit place.
  3. Wait a few minutes for a Service BC Agent to start the video call.
  4. During the call, the agent will verify your identity in real-time.

Step 4: Use Your Mobile BC Services Card

  • Once verification is complete, your mobile card will be activated.
  • You can now use it to:
    • Log into government websites securely.
    • Access various provincial services online.
  • You will not need to reverify your identity again for most services.
